Steveston Colouring Book - Clare Scott

Clare Scott

Best known for her photographs featuring local, scenes and people—she’s back to tell us about the making of her latest Steveston Colouring Book.

A few words from Clare

My colouring book lets you learn about historical places in the village of Steveston while you colour. It's not just historical though—you'll be able to check out some of the local birds, and catches of the day down at Fisherman’s Wharf too!

To create the line drawings in my book, I traced photographs that I originally took. Then I added extra features such as seagulls and sea lions to those drawings.

In addition to being sold at Steveston Museum  and A Monkey Tree Emporium, the Rotary Club of Steveston sold them as a fundraiser at the Steveston Farmers Market this summer.

My first order already sold out and second round is now updated and out there. I had to make an update because the original Pajo's page said to check out their location at Garry Point, which is no longer there.

People have been sending me their coloured pages, and I love seeing their different interpretations with the colours!

So far I've shipped out orders all across Canada for people who used to live in Steveston, and around  the globe—including to England and to Thailand.

One lady bought a colouring book for her two children, and they did a scavenger hunt and went to each location that is in the book!

I have the next one all planned in my head. It's more of a "Steveston Activity Book" for kids—with crossword puzzles, word searches, and easier colouring pages for the younger ones.
